This week at North Windy Ridge, our students have been participating in a fun baseball and softball themed reading event! Not only is it the kickoff of the baseball season, it's also National School Library Month.
On Monday, Mr. Moon from the Asheville Tourists, kicked off our event by visiting classrooms. The students received their reading log for the week and a fun vinyl sticker. They have been earning points for their time spent reading, one point for every five minutes of reading and they are keeping track with the reading log. We are calculating the results daily. They have also been earning points by checking out library books, two points for every book checked out. It is a team challenge and classes are working together to earn points.
On Thursday, the students were invited to dress up in their favorite team attire. Friday, weather permitting, time will be spent reading outdoors. We will also been announcing the winning teams from fifth and sixth grade. All students who participate will be receiving a special prize!
