A.C. Reynolds High School recently welcomed students from Howard University’s Alternative Spring Break program, who spent their break uplifting both the school and community.
During the school day, Howard students connected with the Black Student Union, while also visiting classes to share their experiences and offer valuable advice on achieving success in college and beyond.
In the afternoons, the Howard students rolled up their sleeves to help with community cleanup efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
“This experience is incredible as it provides a great opportunity for our kids to see a great university and college kids being successful,” said Principal Ben Alexander. “This has inspired many of our students to believe in themselves.”
Howard University student junior Jamari Robinson said giving back in this way is a core part of their mission.
“I am from Florida so I know what some of the kids could be going through,” Robinson said. “In a big brother way I want to help out. I want these students to know that no dream is too big, and with hard work and determination, they can achieve anything.”
A.C. Reynolds High is grateful for the lasting impact Howard University has made - both in the classroom and in the community.
