Hi and welcome to my homepage! My name is Amy Jamerson and I'm very excited to be
the 6th grade counselor at North Windy Ridge for the 2020 - 21 school year. This will be
my 23rd year in Buncombe County Schools. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in
Elementary Education at Appalachian State in 1998. I've always had a special love
of the North Buncombe district where I began my teaching career at North Buncombe
Elementary teaching 4th grade. I then had the privilege of teaching 5th grade Math
and Science at North Windy Ridge. After teaching for ten years, I decided to pursue
my Master's in School Counseling at Western Carolina University. I was a 6th-8th
grade counselor at Enka Middle School for five years until 2013, when I came back
home to North Windy Ridge.
Fifth and sixth graders are so much fun - definitely my favorite age! I love working with
kids to help support them through the academic, emotional, and social challenges of
life at this stage. I also enjoy getting to know students' families and teachers and
working together to help make your child's time here at North Windy Ridge successful
and enjoyable. I work with all students in 6th grade through classroom counseling
lessons. I also work with students in small counseling groups as well as individually
as needed. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you would like to discuss a concern
or share something with me that would help me to support your child this year. For
more information about school counseling, see the "Counseling Department" page
under "Our School."
