Kimberly Ferguson
Mrs. Ferguson has taught since the year 2000 at both Johnston Elementary and North Windy Ridge. She
completed her undergraduate work at Clemson University and UNC
Asheville. She received her Masters of Education from Gardner-Webb
University. She is Nationally Board Certified and has a Reading
Specialist License. She oversees North Windy Ridge's Title 1 program as
the Lead Reading Specialist with Jeremy Aten.
Mr.
Aten has been the Title 1 Reading Specialist at Weaverville Elementary
since 2011, and now he is really excited about joining the Title 1 team
at North Windy Ridge. He earned his Master's degree in Reading
Education from Appalachian State University and he earned his Bachelor's
degree in Elementary Education from Mansfield University.
Barbara Jacon
Mrs. Jacon retired from North Windy Ridge in 2017 after 32 years in the classroom. She has a B.A. in Education form U.N.C. Chapel Hill, and has taught all the elementary curriculum in a variety of schools and grade levels throughout her career. However, her heart lies with the North Buncombe community as her husband and two children are graduates of N.B.H.S. Go Hawks!
Lisa Porter
Mrs. Porter graduated from Millersville State University with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education. While living in Pennsylvania and Virginia, she homeschooled her four children, taught Second Grade, and worked as a remediation teacher. She and her husband, Ray, moved to Weaverville in 2008. Since then, Mrs. Porter has been employed as a Title I Assistant in three other school districts. However, her desire was always to teach students at a school in her own community; you can imagine her joy at being hired in 2017 to join the Title I staff at NWR!
Peggy Williams
Mrs.
Williams is a retired Buncombe County Schools teacher and spent her
teaching career in the North Buncombe district. She previously taught
English/Language Arts and Social Studies before retiring from North
Windy Ridge School. This is her third year in the Title One program.
Libby Wilfong
Mrs.
Wilfong earned an Associates of Arts degree in Elementary Education
from St. Petersburg Junior College (now St. Petersburg College) in St.
Petersburg, Florida. She also holds a substitute certificate through Buncombe County Schools. She is completing her fifth year as a member of the Title One program. Prior
to joining the team, she was a remedial tutor at North Buncombe Middle
School and served as a volunteer teaching ESL students in the North
Buncombe district.
