Meet Mrs. High
"Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more than dream:
work.”
William Arthur Ward

Welcome to my NWR homepage. I have hit the highlight of my career
working at NWR as an AIG Specialist. Every step of my professional life has offered incredibly positive experiences and I have loved each school and my students for many reasons, but NWR feels like home and I am with my people. Fifth and sixth graders are such bundles of complex energy. Walking into this building simply makes me smile and brings a special kind of joy into my life.
How did I get here? After graduating from Francis Marion University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade children in the regular classroom. In August, 2013, after completing courses at Mars Hill University, I began teaching gifted learners at North Windy Ridge as an AIG Specialist.
Life outside of NWR includes my husband, three adult children and their families, three granddaughters, including identical twins, one silly and energetic Labrador Retriever, and a 20 year old cat. Who knew this smelly cat would be living with us longer than any of our children? My man is a retired educator with 36 years of public service. He deserves a boat! Our oldest son, Logan, and his family, live in Charlotte. Son #2, Spencer, and his family, live in Clinton Township, MI. Austen Elizabeth, our daughter, and her family, live in Raleigh. We have such big love for our kids and enjoy being the parents of adults. The joy of this life-grandchildren!
Please contact me if you have any concerns, large or small, and hopefully I will be able to provide guidance and solutions.
